چکیده

Introduction Parallel RF excitation using multi-element transmit coils is of interest to reduce pulse duration for spatially selective excitation. Originally, RF pulse design was formulated in the frequency domain for arbitrary k-space trajectories (Transmit-SENSE, [1]) or in the spatial domain for echo-planar trajectories [2]. Later, Transmit-SENSE was formulated in the spatial domain in [3] allowing to specify a spatial region of interest. Here, we extend this method to compensate for the effects of concomitant Maxwell gradients [4]. They become important especially for a large field of excitation (FoX) and long pulse duration mainly found in 3D RF pulse applications.

Z-Selective Multi-Spectral 3D Imaging: A MAVRIC-SEMAC Hybrid

Theory: The Multiple-Acquisitions with Variable Resonance Image Combination (MAVRIC) technique is a 3D method that builds composite images from multiple acquisitions with spatially non-selective RF excitations of varying frequency offsets [1]. The Slice Encoding for Metal Artifact Correction (SEMAC) technique excites 2D slices, performs a 3D acquisition, and uses view-angle-tilting [3] to reduc...

Time-Efficient Slab Selective Water Excitation

Introduction Spectral spatial (SPSP) RF pulses are simultaneously selective in both the spectral and spatial domains [1]. SPSP pulses consist of a train of slice selective RF subpulses applied simultaneously with an oscillating slice select gradient. When used for spatially selective water or fat excitation, the difference in frequency between water and fat, ∆ , limits the spacing between RF su...

Multiband RF Excitation for Accelerating Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Presence of Metal

Target Audience: Researchers interested in MR methods for imaging near metallic implants. Purpose: Recent 3D multispectral imaging (MSI) techniques have dramatically reduced off-resonance artifacts near metal by acquiring multiple 3D-FSE acquisitions at different RF offsets and summing over all RF bins. In-plane distortion, however, remains a problem in areas with extreme local B0 gradients due...

Some Applications of Rf- Gradients and Excitation Sculpting in Nmr Spectroscopy

RF-gradients produced utilizing RF-field inhomogenity of conventional receiver/transmitter coil of NMR-probe can be used to mimic the effects of B0-gradients. This is done by placing long inhomogenous pulse in between two 90° pulses of appropriate phases (z-rotation cluster). B0gradient based excitation sculpting can be converted into RF-gradient version. Selective onedimensional TOCSY and NOES...

VERSE‐guided parallel RF excitations using dynamic field correction

In parallel RF pulse design, peak RF magnitudes and specific absorption rate levels are critical concerns in the hardware and safety limits. The variable rate selective excitation (VERSE) method is an efficient technique to limit the peak RF power by applying a local-only RF and gradient waveform reshaping while retaining the on-resonance profile. The accuracy of the excitation performed by the...
